Happy new year!

Another year. They keep whizzing around faster and faster these years. They seemed to go much slower when I was younger. Anyway, the mild winter in the UK continues, the banana trees are still not wrapped up and the garden still looks reasonably green. I wonder if we'll get any snow this winter? At the moment it doesn't look likely...

We've just come back from a lovely holiday in Dorset and looking through our holiday snaps, I thought I'd cheat a little and upload some photos of flowers, insects and animals that we've spotted in other gardens and in the countryside over the past year, not in Cowick Garden. Happy New Year to Cowick Garden Cafe and its residents. The nature photographer/s who took the photos must be commended - the photos are excellent. Meantime it seems the banana trees are enjoying a relatively mild winter...it will be interesting to see if it stays mild.

Thank you Dave and Sheila! The banana trees are a bit of an odd sight this year, with half their frost jackets on and a mixture of shrivelled brown and green leaves sticking out of the frost fleeces.

Happy new year to you both from Cowick Garden Cafe!

Hi Anonymous! Thank you for your post. :-) The cat in that photo looks a lot like Laa-Laa but that was a cat we spotted on the wall of a garden in the Cotswolds. I think it was the Cotwolds? Can't remember what caught her eye and what she was looking so intently at but she remained still long enough for me to take a decent photo. :-)
